I have tried to figure out how to book underground and third ring tour after reading tour guide and on line info. Nothing worked. The site kept throwing me back to today and tomorrow. Help! I want to book this as part of the combo for Thursday, May 18.

If you're using the coopculture website, your problem is that bookings for May are not available until Tuesday, April 18th at 9:00 AM ROME Time.
This is the ticket-ordering page which contains that information:

So you're too early! Unfortunately, these tickets go so quickly that other RS posters say they've have gotten up in the middle of the night to be on website (or on the phone) the minute they go on sale. Here's a very recent thread about that:

PS: if they sell out before you snag them, you might try for the nighttime tour, although I don't believe those are on sale for May yet either.

the night tours won't go on sale until April 6th. This is a good alternative if you cannot get on the regular daytime underground tour. Just remember that this night tour is a special event and won't include the third tier or entry to the forum or palatine hill.

Kathy and Donna, thanks so much for your reply. I did read the links you sent about what is going on and I must say that I will be up at 2AM but not looking forward to it. I never would have thought it would be so difficult if I hadn't been warned. I don't know how people book trips without this site. It is such a tremendous help because of you and the people who always respond. Grazie mille.

You're welcome, Marion. It's just paying forward help kindly given when planning our own trips...when I didn't figure it out through trial and error. LOL, errors can be educational, and I know I haven't made the last of those! :O)
