The Coliseum Underground tickets go on sale March 20 for April. I'm assuming that's March 20 Italy time...so does that mean that they'll drop Midnight in Italy and 5 pm today Denver Time or 8 am Italy time (or thereabouts) and 1:00 am tomorrow Denver Time (or thereabouts)?
They go on sale on the 20th at 9:00 A.M. ROME time.
Note the line, "Any online bookings made before 9.00 am will be not valid."

Again, the ticket office opens at 9:00 A.M. ROME time. Rome doesn't go on daylight savings time until 3/26 so there currently appears to be a 7-hour time difference. Just run a double-check between your time zone and theirs but I'm guessing your tickets go on sale at 2:00 AM Denver time.
Thanks! I missed that. I was searching but I guess not good enough! 😢
LOL. That's easy to do when you're cross-eyed with umptybumpty details! I've been there...and will be there again. 😳
This is the last item on my agenda to do, so I'm a little antsy to get it done. I only have one day that will work so I'm setting my alarm tonight hoping to get in before it all sells out! I hope the line "Any online bookings made before 9.00 am will not be accepted" doesn't mean that since I live in the states, i have to wait for 9:00 am on March 20 my time. That'd suck if my reservation got canceled.
I have been online for about 40 minutes trying to get my cart to add two tickets and I think their server is bogged down. I've even tried calling which isn't going through either. I'm sitting here crossing my fingers that something will go through!
Well, 1.5 hours later I finally got our tickets. What an ordeal! Eve, did you get yours?
I went on at 5:45 EST and our original date was sold out. There was only a select late time for the day before that we were able to get 2 tickets together. It took about 30 minutes.
It showed that the tickets are to be picked up at the ticket office. Didn't see the "print at home". Is there a long line to pick these tickets up? Can I go back in the reservation and print the tickets?
We have the Roma Pass and will use our one included entrance for entry into the coliseum.
Thanks for any help with this matter.
wm21, the page where you entered your personal info for buying the tour states (under "Delivery methods"):
"You will receive an e-mail to the address you provided, which contains confirmation of the booking and the code that you will need to show at the ticket office to collect your tickets."
Printing tickets at home for this tour isn't an option.
Under the caution about bringing large bags/luggage which are not allowed, they state:
"People with reservations are kindly requested to show up at the ticket office at least 30 minutes before the time previously agreed."
Personally, I would arrive earlier than that but I always err on the side of caution at busy places. :O)
Yep, I got my tickets! And for the date I wanted but it took 2 freaking hours! 2 am to 4 am! This better be worth it cause I'm feeling it this morning. Lol
I didn't realize this sells out so fast. I marked my calendar for today at 9:00 am and they were sold out. Any advice where else I can purchase them? Should I go through a third party?
Glad you got your tickets, Eve! Now prop those eyes open until bedtime tonight!
Heidi, see my response regarding alternate ways to purchase tours on your other post (yes, third party.) Maybe some of the others will have some suggestions as well.
Thanks, Kathy! I'm trying but all I want to do is lie down for a nap. Maybe no one at work will notice? 😴
Don't snore!
LOL, Eve, I'm feeling it too! I could NOT believe the lag on that website. It was crazy! Only a few more hours to go here at work...
I know, Julie! That was ridiculous! You would think we were buying tickets for a one on one meeting with the Pope instead of a tour.
The underground tour sold out within a few hours for April. The alternatives are to book with a third party, book a night tour or book an alternate language tour through the official website. The cheapest will be the alternate language tour, followed by the night tour. They have not released the tickets for the night tours for April but should do so soon. Just keep checking the site.

Eve, I reminisced of buying my Eiffel Tower tickets when buying these. But, that was more pleasant because it was done in about two minutes. This Colosseum process was nerve-wracking! I wondered if I'd get them at all! I'm glad you posted because I didn't realize these tickets sold out so quickly!
O yeah, the night tour...
Forgot about that one as they aren't listing it on the same page with the other colosseum tours. Good catch!
Julie, there were so many times throughout the process last night when I almost threw in the towel. I never want to see another going nowhere buffer! Lol I must have refreshed, closed, etc. multiple times.
Thanks Kathy. I emaiedl thier office and they told me the same thing. They also informed me that you need to be there 45 minutes before the time of the tour. Maybe its for makeup to do the one on one with the Pope Ha Ha
Reading this thread has been quite an education. I plan to try to buy tickets for June. I consider myself forewarned!
When I was getting tickets for last October there were 2 of us on 3 computers and the phone. Took 2 hours and had to resort to our 2nd choice time. When you get there have your printed email out and go to where the 3 lines are and show them your email. They will put you in the proper line to pick-up your tickets. When I was there this took a bit of time due to the security screenings and the masses of people so be sure and give yourself plenty of extra time. The tour is fantastic and well worth the one night/morning of ticket buying aggravation. Happy Travels.
Grazie mille, Larlock! I love this forum! It prepares newbies for their adventures, like me!
You say it took 2 hours, can you explain that a bit more? Was it two hours on the computer refreshing every 2 minutes, slow loading or waiting on hold on the phone?
Just trying to figure out the best strategy, will be doing the same in June for July dates.
Thanks!
I was using my smartphone. It was two hours of the site freezing on me and slow loading. I had to refresh many times and also exit the website and reenter multiple times. There was also something sinister that I discovered...and this is a real good tip... if you want June 3rd, for instance, do not ask for June 3rd. Search for a day before or after the day you want. It will most likely come up that the day you typed in is unavailable BUT then it will give you the date YOU actually want like June 3rd. In the beginning I searched for April 13th to no avail. The moment I searched for the day before, April 13th was available...go figure!
Jeff, for me, the webpage had these squares that sat and cycled. I had my computer, my iPad, my phone and my husband's phone all trying for the tickets. For whatever reason, my husband's phone finally added the tickets to our cart after about an hour. I'm guessing their server can't handle the load. It then took another hour to process through the actual purchasing process. Moves like a snail. Not sure how to make it better but maybe get up a little early and have everything ready to go so you can click through exactly when the tickets open up. I didn't realize it was such a big deal and started around 3:05am my time.
Eve, I noticed that too. I think it's a glitchy website or not designed to be user-friendly. The date thing is very weird...maybe the "next" button literally means next day?
That could be, Julie! I'm just thankful I got the tickets and that my trip is only a week and a couple of days away! So exciting!
Jeff,
I did the 3 computer and 1 phone method. On the phone I believe it would send me into a loop or ring busy. The computers were just dreadfully slow and glitchy. I think the phone finally rang through just about the time we were able to get the tickets into the cart and buy. Be sure and buy the adult tickets not the children tickets.
