Hello,
First time to Italy next month, was looking for good recommendations for a private car transfer from our hotel in Sorrento to the Naples train station (for going back to Rome). I asked for a quote from one company and they were going to charge 200 euros, which seemed a bit high! Thanks for any feedback!
Ask the hotel for both driver and expected price. It is not that hard to get to the Naples train station via train from Sorrento. Maybe an hour and half by car so 200 euro may not be unreasonable. And depending on time of day, traffic in that area can be a problem.
Hi there and welcome to the forum!
I can't answer your question about a private car transfer because I took the train, which is very easy. Leaves from central Sorrento, direct to Naples and just over an hour. Since others are likely to ask, perhaps there is a particular reason you'd prefer to do a private car transfer from Sorrento back to the Naples train station?
Ok thank you for the information about the train; I guess I wasn't aware a train went from Sorrento to Naples, but we were wanting to see the scenic route going back. I've read several posts where people took a private car!! Upon arrival to Naples we are taking a ferry to Capri, then another ferry to Positano, then to Sorrento - just trying to find the easiest/best way back to Naples!!!
We used www.topexcursionsorrento.com
For a few transfers in the area
I believe Naples to Sorrento was 95 euros
They were terrific
We actually did end up on a scenic route from Naples to Sorrento because of traffic/event in the area that day
Our hotel set up a car transfer for 100 Euro.
I'm doing that trip in reverse of yourself. But much easier to go from Sorrento by ferry to Naples and a quick bus ride to the train station.
mg,
There are actually two trains that travel from Sorrento to Naples, the "colourful" Circumvesuviana and the Campania Express. The latter is more of a "tourist train" and more comfortable than the other one. As I recall, both of those arrive at the Garibaldi station which is "downstairs" from Napoli Centrale.
If you'd prefer a private car transfer, that is is undoubtedly the easiest and most comfortable method. You might have a look at this service, which I believe is recommended in the RS Italy guidebook - http://www.monettitaxi17.it/English.htm . You'll have to contact them for pricing and availability.
I assume you'll be using one of the high speed trains from Napoli Centrale to Roma Termini?
Check out https://mydaytrip.com. You can do this trip for 99 Euro and could even add a stop in Pompeii or a winery for a little more. We are using them for a trip to Sorrento from the train station with stops along the way.
Thank you for all of the information!
Our hotel’s land partner took us for 90 Euros about four years ago, We paid for it on our hotel bill, like our 8 hours on the AC driver for 255 Euros. I figured the hotel’s partner had a strong incentive to do a good job. The actual vendor is in this thread:

We had arrived by Circumvesuviana, but the 15 Euro Sorrento local cab ripoff and the hot, jammed, accordion-infested train with our large luggage had been a pain. Not charming and local, but nice locals gave kind directions (like, “not this train, that one!”)
