I'm trying to book a fast train from Naples to Rome in April, but only slow trains are available. The FR trains are all marked "non purchasable" Any advice?
What day in April? I went to Trenitalia and checked a bunch of different April days and I see plenty of Frecciarossa trains available.
Did you use Milano Centrale and Roma Termini or Tutte le stanzione as your start and end points?
Edit: @ChristineH pointed out I was heading the wrong way. Some days in April I see only the early trains as purchasable. But checking .Italo I see trains running so I don't think it's a track issue or anything.
Easter is April 5th - are you trying to get around near the holiday? But I see trains on the 4th and 5th seem fine.
.Italo https://www.italotreno.com/en is Italy's private train company that offers fast train service between big cities so you might check there too.

Napoli Centrale
Are you looking on the official train site?
https://www.trenitalia.com/en.html
What date?
What website were you using? Not knowing your date, I selected 3 dates at random and found plenty of Freccias each day, with prices listed, and went as far as the page requiring personal info with no hiccups. I only used the Naples (all stations) and Rome (all stations) options.
We were having trouble with seeing train schedules in the NL in April, and folks here told me to set our computers to the local European time. It should hopefully take care of glitches in the systems. Sometimes our advanced technology is our worst enemy. If you are still having problems, let me know, and I'll find those posts. I'm almost ready to book myself, so I haven't tried it yet.
Good luck!
EDIT - hope this helps!

Pat may have nailed it. The Trenitalia website tends to default to the current Italian time, which can produce few/no results if you're checking the schedule mid to late afternoon in the US.
There are a lot of possibilities, but until Roberto tells us what date and time he is travelling there is not much we can do for him.
General advise: When asking help with train bookings, always tell us the date.
Anyways. Roberto is seeing trains, but is seeing "non purchasable". On Trenitalia that means "not bookable yet". If a train is sold out it is shown as "sold out". Trains do not sell out months in advance. They would be useless if they did. There are enough trains on that route that there are usually tickets available even on the day itself. Going to a station, buying a ticket, and hopping on a train is how train travel is supposed to work. Buying tickets in far in advance is actually a fairly recent development.
So most probably the OP just needs to be patient...
(I don't think the date or time is the issue: You can enter a date and time in the search field, and that is what will be used for searches. If you enter a time when there are not trains you just get the first few trains after that time, you do not get an empty list...)
Roberto,
I just checked the Trenitalia website using an arbitrary date of 15 April, and numerous solutions were listed, with prices. Perhaps they didn't have details finalized for the dates you were searching? It would help if you could indicate which specific date you'll be travelling?
If you're still not able to make a booking, you could always try to book on the competing Italo Treno high speed service.
Both Trenitalia and Italo are showing no fast trains on the 11th, and only those departing at 13:35-13:40 or later on the 12th. That's what I'm seeing on a quick check, anyway. Not sure why unless it's scheduled track work? As above, we need the date you're looking for.
I am seeing the same "non purchasable" message for the Frecciarossa trains on May 24th from Florence to Venice. Any idea why? Is it too early to book those?
The reason high speed trains can't be booked from April 11 at midnight to April 12 at 3 pm was explained on local press a few days ago: RFI is working on the high speed control systems near Rome. All will be completed on the 12th, but Trenitalia never open bookings before such works have begun.
You can book all trains up to June 14 and, on June 15 you'll be able to book up to December 13. It's not too early when the site says: 'temporarily not available' and later trains can be booked.
I have no time to check what's happening in May, but if the "temporarily" warning is the same you just have to wait. It's just trains, not planes: nobody worries about trains months in advance.
Well there ya go. Thanks, Marco, for solving the puzzle!
11 April at or after 1200 Noon. I’m using the official Trenitalia app on my iPhone. I put in from Napoli Centrale to Roma Termini.
Looks like you may have to wait a bit. They may update the schedule, and than open sales. No need to worry. Trenitalia is not just suddenly going to make travel from Napels to Rome impossible...
