Friends of Rick: I would like to bicycle the Appian Way in September, when I will visit Rome. Have you done this, did you like it and what did you see? What's the name of a service provider I can use to rent a bicycle? How many miles do you suggest I go?

Do it on a Sunday when traffic is restricted. There is a rental shop right at the beginning of the Appian Way.

I too wanted to bike the Appian Way but decided to walk. Very glad we walked, stones much too large to ride on!
I would advise not biking on the appion way surface itself. It’s very old and consequently uneven, with large gaps between the uneven stones. There are usually small areas to each side that are just dirt and are easier to ride your bike on.
