Hi Everyone,
My wife and I will be staying in Sorrento for 4 days in May, and we would like to ride the train to Pompeii for a day. What is the best way to see Pompeii? Should we just stroll around... or check into a tour like Viator... or are there audio tours that you would recommend? I didn't see an audio tour available on RS's website.
Thanks!

We had a driver take us from Naples to our hotel in Sorrento with a Pompeii stop along the way for a couple of hours.
There were guides available at the gate, but one of my biggest regrets is that we did not avail ourselves of one, thinking we could do it ourselves.
We really didn't have much idea of what was what, so I highly recommend a guide, whether pre booked or picked up on arrival.
Have a great time.
I highly recommend arranging a tour through Giovanna Donadio - [email protected]. She’s listed in Rick Steve’s Naples/Amalfi Coast guidebook and arranged incredible tours of Pompei (with Lucia), Sorrento, Amalfi Coast, Capri and Naples. Extremely knowledgeable, friendly and organized!
Thanks for other great tips, everyone!
