Best steak in Siena

We will be going to Siena in May and staying within the city walls at the Hotel Palazzetto Rosso. Can anyone recommend a nearby restaurant to eat steak?

We were in Florence a few years back and I regret not trying a Florentine Steak at that time. We will not be going to Florence this trip so I am hoping to find a good steak in Siena.

Thanks

Da Dino. It is a bit of a walk from your hotel but our very favorite place in Siena for steak.

For whatever reason, when I want Italian food, I just don't want a steak. Just my personal preference.
I know that Northern Italian food is different from Neapolitan or Southern Italian. Northern Italian is more French.

I wouldn't get too hung up about it. Italy doesn't produce great steak in my opinion, the favoured breed, Chianina, just doesn't produce as good beef as that bred in places such as the UK, US, Argentina, Northern Spain etc. You'll find better steak in Philadelphia than you will in Siena.

Bread is big in Tuscany and traditional 'peasant' dishes such as panzanella and ribolita would be worth checking out not to mention the wealth of bruschetta and crostini toppings.

By all means opt for a steak if you fancy it but there's no Holy Grail of steak in Siena or in Florence either so if you find one you like then all well and good.

It's been a few years but we had an amazing steak at Osteria Boccon del Prete on Via S. Pietro. We ate there a few nights we enjoyed it so much.
