Hi, I thought I read somewhere that you can walk/hike through olive trees to get to a tourist site in Assisi, but now I can't find that information. I don't think it was a hike out in the countryside, but just a way to get from one site to another. I don't even remember which ones! Has anyone done this?

Just reading in Rick Steves Italy, I believe it's the Church of San Damiano. Rick says walkers descend pleasantly from Assisi for 15 minutes through an olive grove. Has anyone done this? Is it an uphill walk back to Assisi? Where would you start from Assisi? Thanks!

I didn't walk this route but I think it's the road leading to San Damiano Church and Monastery.
Here's a recent post about Assisi that you may like to read...Robert (from Wilmington, DE) has written a wealth of information about beautiful Assisi.
Assisi is an amazingly beautiful city, enjoy!

Yes, I believe it's an uphill walk back to Assisi.
