Apennine Colossus

We’ll be in Florence in October and would love to visit the Apennine Colossus. I’m surprised that I don’t see much mention of it here. Has anyone been there? We’ll be arriving in Florence by train a few hours before check-in time for our Air B&B and thinking of storing our luggage and going there then. What’s the best way to get there - taxi or bus? Any opinions or experience to share? Thanks.

I’ve been there a couple of times when I lived in Florence, and that was over 35 years ago. Of course at the time I drove my car, but a bus can take you there to Pratolino, where Villa Demidoff is located. A taxi is a faster option, but it will be expensive (probably 40 euro) given the distance. The comment I gave in the thread linked above is now outdated. The bus that goes upthere now is the AT (Autolinee Toscane) 307A (the ATAF bus company has been taken over by AT in 2021). You can catch the 307A (click on Firenze Extraurbano) in Florence on Piazza Montelungo, near the Fortezza da Basso (if you take the long walk along platform 16 of the SMN station you car reach an elevator down to the Piazzale)
