Has anyone ever been to see the Colossus statue? It's about 10 miles north of Florence. Just wondering if it's worth the trip and the best way to get there if we don't have a car. Thanks in advance for any tips/advice!

Florence City Bus (ATAF). Bus no. 25-A (make sure it's 25A, otherwise without the A the bus stops at Pian di San Bartolo). You can take that bus from Piazza San Marco.
The last time I was there was on Sunday 27 April 1986. It was a beautiful day with lots of people outdoors enjoying the sun.
I remember the date well because a couple of days later we discovered the Chernobyl disaster had just happened (on Saturday 26th), therefore I must have soaked quite a bit of radioactive material that day outdoors.Other than that, It was beautiful.
Whether it is worth for you to go or not, will depend on how much you have seen of Florence already. If you have never been and have a short time in Florence, there are probably more important things to see first.
