Another Borghese ticket question

I want to make online reservations at the Borghese for early in October but the site only shows September dates. Is it too early to make reservations with them? When do you think they might open October? We've been years ago and never got tickets ahead of time but I understand from RS Guide that things have changed. So I want to make sure I don't miss out. I have a window of 8 days in October to choose a date. Thanks for any help

I e-mailed ([email protected]) them in late August 2019 to get tickets for mid-October and got the following response.

Dear valued customer,
Your requested date is too advanced. We can only book until September 29th. We are waiting for the new calendar, there is not a precise date for the announcement. Please contact us in the middle of September we will be happy to help you with your booking.

Great! You'll be fine if you keep an eye on the website. Just a comment for anyone else who might have visited the museum a long time ago?

We've been years ago and never got tickets ahead of time

Prior reservations for Galleria Borghese have essentially been mandatory for quite a number of years now, probably a factor of the burgeoning tourist industry in Italy. Advance reservations are also necessary now to access other top attractions in the most-visited cities, such as the Uffizi in Florence, and Colosseum and Vatican Museums in Rome, to avoid very long ticket queues or to get in at ALL on a specific day you wish to visit.

As it happens, I was just on the site today (looking up information about photography), and I see it now says that you might be able to get in without a prior reservation if you arrive late and are lucky that the group inside is less than capacity: *It is possible to visit the museum without booking, presenting yourself directly at the ticket office 30 minutes after the start time of each visit. The number of last-minute tickets is limited."

Yes, I saw that statement on the Italian version of the website. Still, this museum is so popular that snagging last-minute tickets is a long shot, as evidenced by the number of people on TripAdvisor who didn't realize they couldn't just walk in and couldn't get tickets that same day. One quote:

"I was looking forward to going this gallery, but couldn't get in and all the day tickets were sold out in advance and next tickets won't be availabe [sic] for another 6 days..."

It's possible that last-minute tickets are more readily available during the winter season, though.

I'm the original poster and am thrilled I got the date and time I wanted. Thanks to all. Hope this helps others. Also for some reason the site would not take my first credit card but did take the second. Both are Master Cards. Go figure.

I just bought my October tickets as well and the same thing happened to me, the web site only took my second credit card for some reason, but I'm glad I got my tickets! This will be our first RS tour, Villages of Italy on Oct 12th and we are ending up in Rome...can't wait! Thanks for sharing the info, I've been looking for tickets for awhile now.
