Hi there,

What hotel? Where?
How many to transport?
Check your hotels website for "how to get here" info.
I am actually asking for myself and for a friend who is basically doing the same trip we are - only a week apart. They are staying at Leonardo Hotel, Venice Mestre
2 people
A week later my husband and I will be traveling to Venice and we will be staying at Best Western Plus Hotel Bologna

Above is just one of the threads if you Search here.
Fyi- Mestre is not in old Venice, it's on the mainland.
Safe travels!
Thanks much! :-)
The bus from the airport to Mestre costs 8 euros one way, according to info I see online. Last September a friend and I decided to take a taxi from our last-night hotel in Mestre to the airport, and it cost us 35 euros.
Try to have your friends cancel their reservation in Mestre and book a hotel IN Venice!
When you are staying in Mestre and not on the islands, the Marco Polo airport is not different from any other airport all over the world: walk to the main exit and get on the bus departing first or on the first cab in the line.
Official (land) cabs are white, with the city Crest on the sides and the usual light on the roof.
35 € seem a bit expensive. I have always paid less on the Meter when going to Mestre. It's been a while, maybe the fares have increased after Covid and the War.
For sure you should not try to negotiate with cabbies your personal fixed fare: 9 times out of 10 you'd pay less on the meter. This is true in Venice as it is in Bologna. Imho when there isn't a fixed fare system set up by the City and the Taxi Unions, the meter is almost always cheaper.
Dario, I was traveling to the airport, not from it. Perhaps there's a difference in airport fees?
You may be right
Thanks everyone! These suggestions are helpful. We do not have the option to cancel our hotels in Mestre but we are looking forward to being close to Venice and can't wait to experience this part of Italy.
