We are flying into Rome on Monday morning and will leave Tuesday morning for Sicily. We had hoped to visit Ostia Antiqua on Monday but it seems that it, like many museums, is closed on Mondays. Is there anything to do out in that area on Mondays in March (too cold for the beach I'll assume). We could shuttle from our hotel back to the airport and take the train into town, but we were really hoping for a low-key day in that area.
Are you staying in Fiumencino? You could wander around the town and the waterfront, I’m not sure what else there is to do. But good luck with the trip!
Oh that's too bad, as it was a nice idea!
I don't know about transport (it's a 30 minute drive), but the Etruscan sites like Cerveteri are something I have bookmarked for myself: https://www.italia.it/en/lazio/things-to-do/necropolises-of-tarquinia-and-cerveteri
