2 nights in Rome

What type of budget are you thinking? Do you have a particular neighborhood in mind. Is a flight of stairs up to the hotel ok? Are you more interested in an American type hotel with lots of amenities? If you can give us some info on your travel style it will help us make recommendations. For restaurants, any food allergies, budget, etc.

Rome is expensive, the best location, in my opinion is near the Pantheon.

as others have mentioned, what is your budget in euros, what are your dates, any amenities you need and want, mobility issues, climbing stairs/steps
rome's prices have gone up plus october is a busy & crowded time. it's harvest season with celebrations, fairs/festivals.
check-in times 3-4pm and check out 10-11am. you will have half day, one full day, and check out morning next day. when is your vatican tour and are you headed somewhere else after rome? you really are not giving enough time for rome but it's your vacation.
trevi fountain will be busy & crowded, go very early or later night, colosseum tickets have been a big issue to get tickets (book online early (colosseo.it) have a great trip and enjoy

Hi there, try to get out early and walk to the Trevi fountain first thing in the morning, it will be quiet (er) than later in the day. We've been very happy with Hotel Smeraldo, where we stayed over NYE 2023-2024, here's a slightly earlier review, but I agree with the poster. It's walkable to all the sites in ancient Rome. Here are two restaurants we enjoyed in Rome:
- Hosteria Isidoro is a few blocks from the Colosseum and San Clemente (which I highly recommend checking out!). Great food and convenient location.
- Renato e Luisa (reservation required) was hands-down our favorite restaurant in Rome! It is located on a quiet street near a lovely book shop (Spazio Sette) and is also near the Julius Caesar assassination ruins.

As for stays, we found an Airbnb in the Jewish Ghetto and really enjoyed our time there. It was very centrally located and the only spots we took Ubers to were the Vatican + Termini train station.
