A couple times when I've stayed at Hotel Aberdeen I ate at Restaurant Target nearby. Do a google map and The Target will show up near the hotel, kind of around the corner, but a mite further. I remember the food was very good and the people I was with enjoyed it also. Enjoy your tour.

We love Terme di Diocleziano, a few blocks from the Aberdeen. The food is good, the staff is great, and the location is convenient. https://www.termedidiocleziano.it/

When we were in Rome a few years ago before joining a South Italy tour, we enjoyed dinner there so much that we made reservations for our last night in Rome before joining the tour. When we arrived that second evening, the staff remembered us, greeting us warmly. On both occasions, we asked to be seated outside, not only enjoying the lovely evening, but interacting with other diners. We have also eaten in the rooftop dining room, but we much preferred the outside seats.

Oh, if they offer you a meloncello, try it.

Here's a link to my trip report for that trip. There is one negative paragraph about the Aberdeen (still our favorite Rome hotel,) but I'm assuming that the disappointing breakfast was because Covid restrictions were still in force. I'd be willing to bet they're back to their former generous offerings. https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/trip-reports/mini-trip-report-venice-and-rome-may-2022

If you want just a quick slice of pizza, there’s a super pizzeria 1 block from hotel in direction of Termini.

We've also enjoyed Caffee Washington, another one very close to the Aberdeen. https://en.caffewashington.com/ We've had dinner and lunch there several times, and have always enjoyed the food and the service.

OK, now this might make you laugh but I enjoyed Ristorante Zonwa Roma just a few doors down from the Aberdeen. It's Asian and I was ready for something different. On my Best of Italy tour we had 3 folks with Asian heritage (2 Vietnamese, 1 Chinese) - they thought the food was fantastic and in fact one of the guys ate there several nights, lol. I was ready for rice and veggies and thoroughly enjoyed it.

Your guide should also have recommendations. We ate at Target twice, it was great.
