Will be in Venice with a 13 year old boy, so we will want not fussy but good casual food. Staying in the San Marco area, but willing to go to other parts of the city. In the past, we’ve found it harder to find places frequented by locals and not the overpriced tourist places. Years ago we found a great place, but couldn’t find it last trip.
Any recent recommendations appreciated. Thanks in advance.
LLH, here's a link to a trip report I posted last year. You won't be interested in all of it, of course, but the end of the first section, and the beginning of the second, mention 4 restaurants we enjoyed, none of them "fancy." Just neighborhood eateries.

A pen pal who has stayed in Venice many times tends to eat fast and frugally at Rosticceria Gislon. It's near the Rialto Bridge. It seems to be something like a cafeteria, so would be in and out. It seems there are similar in the area, so maybe do a google for 'rosticceria' in Venice and see if any work for you.
Enjoy the walk to Trattoria Dai Torsi.
When we were there last fall, we ate lunch just off St Marks Square. Its on "Calle Larga St. Marco" and directly across the pedestrian alley from the Hotel Concordia. We just had a simple pizza but it was very good. Most of what is on this alley seem to be pretty informal tourist caterers so...
If you face the basilica from the square. Go to the left hand corner of the square on the basilica end, thru the short underpass, then first alley on right. go about 2 blocks. Hotel Concordia is on the right and restaurant on left. Just past the restaurant is "Osteria Ai Specchieri" which is shown on google maps.
We also ate one night at "Trattoria da Mimmo" on Rio Tera S. Leonardo, just a short distance from the Ponte Delle Guglie bridge . Its not really fancy, I had the Gnocchi and it was excellent and good service.
We also found many easy Sandwich shops around so that might work to for fast informal stuff.
Taverna San Trovaso, across the Accademia Bridge in Dorsoduro, is reliable.

It is on the same little canal as the gondola workshop (Squero San Trovaso).
