Shannon Airport to Dingle stops?

Hi All,

A group of 7 of us will be driving from Shannon Airport to Dingle on our first day in Ireland. We're a group of young adults between 28-34. What are some good places to stop along the way to see, eat, drink, ETC? We land at 9 AM and can't check into our airbnb in Dingle until about 2. Thanks!

Are you arriving in Shannon from Scotland or going to Scotland from Ireland? (Just looking at your other thread.) Whether you've just gotten off a trans-Atlantic flight will make a difference as to what you might reasonably be able to do.

I'd get myself to Dingle, because I think Dingle is hard to beat. How many days do you have there?

(Not that it matters, but I'm glad you put your age range, because I don't consider 28-34 to be "young adult.")

Hi! They're actually two separate trips :) so we're flying into Shannon from the US, and are driving to Dingle that day. We are spending two nights in Dingle, and one night in Galway.

And - I keep forgetting that I'm actually an adult now! Getting older by the day...

Ah, okay. Two trips - that's exciting!

Expect to be pretty beat on arrival, and take it easy driving. We did it when about your age. My husband was in the military and had lived overseas but the wrong-side driving while tired still got to him a few times. It's easy to revert to what you're used to and end up in the wrong place at the wrong time. Hopefully all your travel companions will assist in keeping the driver alert and not be a distraction! I still echo my suggestion to get some protein and caffeine in you, and drive to Dingle without attempting to stop too much. Here's a previous link that might help you.

Oh wow! That thread was great, thank you :) My husband does great with jetlag and is an excellent driver, so we feel pretty confident in him :) He drove around Tuscany after a red-eye to Italy last May, and while that is on the "right" side of the road for us, he did just fine. My sister and I will both be up in the car to make sure he is staying sharp as well.

Adare looks lovely! That would be a great stop for coffee/food/and some sightseeing. We're so excited about spending a few days in Dingle. Thanks so much for your help!
