New Way Car Rental

My husband and I are traveling to Ireland this April (2025) and will be renting a car for our stay. Looking for input on New Way Car Rental. This is apparently a newer company that seems to have good reviews. I like that the rate is fully inclusive and you don't have the credit card deposit to cover damage, excess, etc. We would greatly appreciate input. Thank you for your time!

There was a recent thread about New Way, but the search function is pretty limiting, so I couldn't find it. I haven't used them, so I'm just sharing an uninformed opinion.

Found them:

A credit card deposit is usually only when you decline coverages, so being happy that New Way doesn't give you the option isn't much of a reason to praise them, since they include the coverages in their higher base rate. I prefer to use my Visa insurance, and usually save many hundreds on our typical trip, although that's only available on some cards, and some don't like the claims process, since it might take 30days to settle if there's a mishap. Some firms charge you E7/day to even use this CC coverage. New Way doesn't have very many offices, so if you have a problem, service might be pretty sluggish.

I generally find renting a car in Ireland is a matter of bending over and letting the desk clerk reach for your wallet (or purse), then having an argument about asking you to pay more for an upgrade because they're out of what you reserved or the car has a GPS you didn't ask for. Probably not that different than other countries, including the US.

With your trip so close, rates will already be rising for everyone.

Not familiar with New Way. We had a good experience last Sept. with Conns Ireland.

May I suggest going with New Way car hire at the airport, located in terminal one. I have hired cars from them in the past couple years, and I appreciated the relatively quick checking out/in process, their all-inclusive pricing, and the choice of using automatic vehicles. This is an Irish-owned company. They will allow you to also drive into Northern Ireland, but don’t take the car off the island. Their website: newway.ie

Thank you for replies. We have reserved a car with New Way. I will let you know how it works out. On another note, we will be going to Scotland as part of this trip. We have a car reserved through Arnold Clark. Any words of wisdom about that company?

We love AC. We did have a problem last year with a flat tire Jon o'Groats. They said it would take 5-6 hours to get there with a fix, so we luckily found a local place. We thought AC was very generous to not charge us anything for an unmatched tire brand when we turned the car in. I'm not sure any other company could have got there sooner.
