We are taking our first trip to Ireland this summer. Very excited! It will be our boys 21st birthday while we are there, and my husband will have celebrated his 60th birthday in June. We will have a total of 6 full days to explore, flying in and out of Dublin. I have been doing a lot of reading, and realize there is a lot to do and see. We may or not rent a car in Galway, and return it in Dublin. Our thinking is:
Day 1- Take the train from Dublin to Galway after landing in the early morning. Stay in Galway
Day 2- Cliffs of Moher ( I feel as if there are mixed feelings re: land vs. boat), and even seeing the cliffs. Stay in Galway
Day 3- Burren Stay in Galway
*Day 4-* Not sure- my husband wants to do Dingle. I was thinking Killarney National Park. Or, something completely different. Possibly thinking of doing a scenic country drive (with a castle stop) to Dublin...
Day 5- Drive to Dublin if we are not already in Dublin
Day 6- Dublin
Day 7- Morning flight out of Dublin
We are an active family, and enjoy a mixture of exploring cities, and hiking/walking. Not 100% sure on the rental car yet, but do know to request an automatic!
Thank you for any advice you can give regarding our first trip, with 6 full days.
