I have a client that wants to do a sheep dog demonstration from Dublin. I can only find a full day tour via Viator that includes a sheep dog demonstration along with several other stops. They would prefer to just do the sheep dog demo. Looking for recommendations for a tour or private guide that can take them. TIA
Try Ireland forum this one is for reviews of places, things people have done.
The only one I know about is Kissane on the Ring of Kerry, but there may be others. Not easy at all (or worthwhile) to do as a day trip, although it’s an interesting stop if you are driving the Ring of Kerry.
We took this tour in 2019. We stopped at a farm for a sheepdog demo near the entrance to Glendalough. You can see on the map that it isn't terribly far from Dublin. Hire a car and make the trip privately. Keep in mind, the demo is less than a half hour long. Does the client want to drive that far for such a short demo?
We did this about 2018. Not only is the demonstration short but at a distance. If you are expecting some one on one with dog and sheep, not going to happen. The sheep shearing demo was interesting but the general theme the of this establishment was "The wool business is bad".
I found sheep dog demonstrations at Jerpoint Park near Kilkenny. https://jerpointpark.com/ We are going in July, so I can't give a review on it. We are also staying in Kilkenny, so it's pretty close for us. It looks like it would be about 1 1/2 hr drive from Dublin. The sheep dog demonstrations are at 11:30 and 3:30. 7.50 euro cash, Reservations are suggested. They are 1 1/2 min from Jerpoint Abbey.
