I'm not seeing any recommended places to stay for Killarney in the "Best of Ireland" guide. Any suggestions?
I have stayed 3 times in Scotts Hotel. Very central location, competitive prices, nice rooms, good breakfast. scottshotelkillarney.com
TexasTravelMom, thanks for the Scott’s Hotel referral. I’ve been amazed at some of the Irish hotel rates I’m seeing! Most in a decent area are way over budget or not cancellable for a solo traveler. And I’m looking way out to July 2025!
horsewoofie, I spent nearly a month in Ireland in June and found lodging pretty expensive. I am cheap. So consider this recommendation as being relative to other prices. Ha!
Not a hotel, i found the Gardens bnb, it is within walking distance to Killarney town center and has good reviews. It is the cheapest lodging i booked for our trip this August. Yes, Ireland is expensive. We will also stay in Dublin, Doolin, Kinvara and Galway. Most are bnb/guesthouses.
I also booked ahead. My booking is cancellable.
Sead1, sorry to hi-jack your thread, but at least it’s on topic.
Thanks Holly. I was researching The Gardens last night. Now I have a choice. Time to start making reservations.
For Dublin, Trinity College rents dorm rooms in the summer, a step below to a monastery stay—cheap. https://www.visittrinity.ie/stay/book/#!/accommodation/packages
Is anyone familiar with O’Neill’s Pub and Townhouse in Dublin, close to Trinity College? It’s cheaper than surrounding hotels. Years ago I stayed at Ariel House but want to be closer to sight seeing this time.
Horsewoofie, no, but I stayed at Trinity in June and would absolutely do it again. Not fancy but SO convenient! And the breakfast is great!
