With a visit to the Rock of Cashel or on its own, visit and stay in Kilkenny at the Zuni! Wonderful and attentive staff! The restaurant is superb! Sublime! We ate the night before at a Michelin star restaurant in Dublin and the Zuni has it ALL OVER that place! Creative and luscious starters, inventive main courses and delectable desserts, make it a point to go there! It's no more expensive for a three course meal for two than other restaurants you'll encounter- and WAY FAR BETTER food! And when finished, take a one or two floor elevator rise to your lovely room!
Was considering staying in Kilkenny just as a stopover, but this has me rethinking it. Would you say it’s worth an overnight just for the dinner + hotel combo?
If you have the time and the funds, I’d say yes. And you remind me that they have a room and dine package which makes it a great value. You only pay a small surcharge for an Irish beef entree and one of the desserts if I remember. Have a cocktail before dinner at the Left Bank pub across the street and listen to some live music (or after dinner)….
Mark, I agree unreservedly! I stayed at Zuni several years ago as a solo traveler & remember my lovely, warm room, the friendly, helpful staff & the spectacular meals that I enjoyed. It was a splurge following a pretty dismal & freezing stint as a house sitter. I'm so glad to hear that nothing has changed!
