Kilkenny, Lawcus Farm Guest House

This place was fabulous and so fun. Its a working farm with horses, pigs, chickens and ducks and an eclectic assortment of vintage equipment and implements. Our attic room was spacious with deep quilt laden beds, and a small but workable bath, and overlooked the stream and fields behind the farm. As soon as we arrived, Ann-Marie spent a lot of time with us explaining the local area eateries and sights (very interesting abbey ruins near-by), even though we were only there one night. The next day, Mark gave us a tour of their fascinating hand-built farm house; most of the doors, trusses and fixtures he salvaged from local churches and estates. The whole place is right out of an American Pickers episode set in Ireland. The kitchen and breakfast area was in a glass extension of the guesthouse something like a greenhouse. The full Irish breakfast was enough by itself to make this a destination - outstanding. Mark and Ann-Marie could not be more engaging, helpful and friendly. We highly recommend Lawcus Farm.
