Glenomra House, Ennis

Has anyone stayed in Glenomra House in Ennis recently? And how did you get in contact with Mary? I sent her a couple emails and haven't heard back. I saw there is an Airbnb listing for Glenomra House, so just wondering if that's the only way they're taking reservations now?

Thanks,
Katie

Katie,

I stayed there in 2022 when it was a traditional Irish B&B. That website is now defunct. I believe Mary closed it due to a family situation. Now, as you've seen, it's an AirBnB and accommodates only two guests, whereas before it offered a few rooms. Mary is a wonderful host, and I hope you can reach her.

I hope you can reach Mary, too, assuming that it’s still her house. We stayed in May 2023, and her husband was having health issues, and she thought she might have to shut down the B&B soon, and maybe move.

I wonder if she’s still got the place? I hope she and her husband are doing OK. I hope you get a good place to stay in Ennis.

We stayed here in July 2025. Mary still runs the house as B&B as well as Airbnb. It was fabulous and highly recommended. Great location and close to the town centre.

I emailed for my trip in 2024 and never had a reply. I assumed she was out of business or full. Since someone has stayed here, it’s not the out of business answer.

I wonder how james.calder reached Mary? If he booked thru Airbnb, then that answers the OP as an option (maybe the only option). When most people say “Airbnb,” that generally connotes a self-catering place, without being served breakfast.

Unless Mary is renting out some of the rooms and/or allowing guests to use her kitchen, I imagine it’s still operating as a Bed and Breakfast. I hope that her and her family’s situation is going well.

Cyn, the Air bnb info denotes “new Air bnb listing” and includes a link to TripAdvisor reviews. Seems to make sense they might be outsourcing some of the administrative work.

You’re right. I looked up the Glenomra House listing in Airbnb and Mary is using that system to book out individual rooms, with Continental breakfast provided. She also permits guests to use her kitchen, if desired.
