Driving Dublin to Galway, stop along way

Advice please.

Frist two nights are in Dublin. Then pick up rental to head west. Ultimate destination and reason for trip is the Lost Valley, Family heritage near Louisburgh. Looking to stay in Westport are 2 nights.

Along the way, I would like to drive from Dublin to Galway and stay in Galway a few nights to use as a homebase to see Aran Islands, Cliffs, Galway itself.

***- Is it feasible to stop along the drive from Dublin to Galway to see Rock of Cashel and Cahir castle without adding an overnight? They seem like interesting points for us to see, being our first ever trip to Ireland.

Then a night in Clifden to explore Connemara.

Then up to Louisburgh and Westport for 2 nights and make our way back to Dublin to fly out.

I am open to all help on this. I am planning this for 4 total adults. THIA!

While Rock of Cashel and Cahir castle are wonderful sites, they are too far off your route for this trip in my opinion. We did a similar Dublin to Galway drive in 2022 and enjoyed a stop at Clonmacnoise (monastery ruins) followed by a pub lunch in Athlone. They felt like the ideal places to stop on the way to Galway for us.
