Clifden ...one day or two

We are interested in seeing Connemara Nat'l Park, Sky road, Kylemore Abbey, and other sites in this area.
We planned to stay in Clifden....and we are looking for recommendations on where to stay.
Also, we were thinking one day, but now it seems like we will need two days ????
Prior to this, we will be staying in Galway for 2 days.
After Clifden, we are headed to Archill Island.

Thanks !

I'd allow 2 days especially if you want to drive up to Westport from Clifden. We enjoyed driving around and stopping to take pictures of sheep and have lunch in Westport. One of the most beautiful drives, and one you see often in magazines for driving advertisements, is the R35, coming south from Cregganbaun to Aasleagh. Especially in the afternoon when the sun hits the rocks. Any drive you take in Connemara is breathtaking. We did not stop at the park or the Abbey, but did enjoy Sky Road.

The source for Ireland's wonderful and plentiful B&Bs is Tourism Ireland's website at: [.ireland.com/en-us/][1]
Clifden is worth a two-night stay.

We just stayed at Ballynahinch Castle on our trip, and I'd highly recommend it. Perfectly secluded, just 30-45 minutes to Clifden and Kylemore Abbey. Both the pub and restaurant are wonderful, and there are also great restaurants in Clifden. Plus, they have fishing, riding and shooting, plus lots of paths for walking.

Personally, I did not enjoy Galway enough to spend 2 days there. We did one day and that was enough for us. Good food though. I'd personally do one night there if you absolutely want to, and spend more time elsewhere.

We also enjoyed our stay at Abbeyglen in Clifden --our second time at this hotel. Great location for the Connemara area. Cong is a cute little town near Ashford Castle Hotel--you could have lunch or tea there--the hotel is exquisite. We opted to have lunch at the Hungry Monk in Cong.

We stayed at The Quay House in Clifden for two nights. It was wonderful and the hosts are just great! I would definitely stay 2 nights. The rooms are huge with sitting areas and the breakfasts were delicious. It is right on the harbor in Clifden. We also had an outstanding meal at Darcy 12 and would recommend that highly. We also ate at Mitchell's which was good but not as lovely as the meal we had at Darcy 12.
