Buswells Hotel - Dublin

Here's a recommendation for Buswells Hotel in Dublin! We stayed there two nights in June. It's an old world hotel with excellent service. I was on my train to Galway when I realized that I left my passports behind in the safe in my room. I cannot believe I did that! Anyway, I called Buswells and Lenore at the front desk was more than helpful. She packaged them up for me and I had DHL pick them up and deliver them to my hotel in Galway the next day! The next time I'm in Dublin, I'll definitely stay at Buswells. It was my favorite hotel on my trip.

Good to hear! That’s our beginning hotel for the tour in September. So nice to hear that they were willing to go above and beyond to send you your passports.

This was our least favorite hotel on our tour a few years ago. Glad they were able to help you, but I still wouldn’t recommend it.

I stayed at Buswell's a few years ago. It was one of the worst stays I've ever had. Housekeeping was poorly trained, never changed linens or towels between guests (just folded them), didn't check to see if there was any foreign substance on those towels (I found this out after taking a shower and looking for something to dry myself with) , and barged into my room to clean it at 8 AM without knocking and disregarding the "do not disturb" sign.

That was my second room. My first room had so many flies I thought I'd have to be an air traffic controller to get them.

The manager was so appalled at what I had exerienced--and saw on the towels--that he promised to make sure the room was cleaned top to bottom. When I returned, the room was clean, there was a box of chocolates and bottle of wine in the room, and I was informed that breakfast for my stay would be on the house.

The employees, except for the housekeepers I met and the head of housekeeping, were very nice and tried their best to help.

I still wouldn't go back.

@Frank II - I’m sorry you had that experience. I had no issues like that during my stay in June. Maybe they have since hired new housekeepers.

We had a good stay there many years ago. Glad it’s still an option.

My wife and I stayed there on our RS tour a couple of years back…pre tour…start of tour and post tour….excellent stay/Hotel and Lenore was also a stand-out for us!
We’d go back for sure…and Lenore is one of the main reasons.
The Hotel is in a central location.

My stay for a R Steves tour was in 2018. It was ok, but dirty linen stayed in hallway most of the day; because it was two buildings joined there were stairs to lug your baggage up even though there was a lift. It was hot, but they did provide a fan. However, the cord was frayed and the fan was filthy. Finally their guest safe was literally on floor level so very difficult to use unless you were limber enough to get on the floor, put your things inside and get up again. Check in was delayed for me several hours and I never did learn why. Other folks were getting checked in. However, when I asked a couple times how much longer the wait time would be the desk staff was very rude to me. I wouldn't stay there again.

Loved Buswells! My family was there in 2018. Excellent location and not one problem or complaint!

Sounds like it's feast or famine at Buswell's. I was lucky last spring, adequate though small room, very nice lobby and breakfast, helpful staff, great location. The layout is quirky because it's several buildings joined together. (If you watched Fawlty Towers you may remember the upstairs hallway, Buswell's was like that. But nobody resembling Basil.) I'd certainly stay there again.
