i am planning a trip to Belfast and wondering what folks recent experiences have been? Also, what part of the city is it best to stay in? I was thinking of staying by Queens university. Thanks so much!

I travel on a budget so I liked ETAP hotel. Good location and friendly helpful staff. I walked pretty much everywhere. Less than 5min to bus/train station and many good pubs including Crowd.
But if you have very high standard and unlimited budget this may not be your place.

Hi Martin
Ive taken thousands of Americans to Belfast for Rick Steves and had the pleasure of 3 great years studying history in Queens University!
I personally recommend two locations to stay when in Belfast, one is in the environs of Queens, which is simply an adorable Victorian red-brick campus with lots of pubs and restaurants, and indeed good affordable hotels nearby. The other is downtown, i must say I love the energy of it, particularly around city hall or the 'cathedral Quarter'.
Its a great city and the security issues are for the most part a thing of the past.
Check out the 'Linen-hall library' and the Duke of York pub.

Any of the Premiere Inns are good options. Each in a different section of the city. Maybe for your first visit the one in the city center cathedral quarter would be the best choice. Take a look at tripadvisor reviews on each and go from there. Wonderful city. Please have a pint at The Spainard. Do not miss the Titanic Museum, the Gaol and a tour of The Troubles. All enlighting and impressive.
