Hello, we are headed to Dublin and are looking for bed & breakfast recommendations, we are trying to avoid large/chain hotels, thanks!

I recently stayed at Avoca House Bed & Breakfast for 2 nights and really enjoyed it. Room was nice, breakfast was good. It’s not near the city center, but is an easy walk between the bus stop from the airport and Glasvenin Cemetery (where I took a tour). It has one set of stairs to several rooms on the 2nd floor (American counting) and the neighborhood was really quiet. Several places to eat on the main street (about a 10 min walk for me and I’m not fast) near the bus stops.

My suggestion would be to save the quaint, B&B experiences for your trips out of Dublin City and focus on the lodging that is located near the sites you are planning on seeing. Most of the B&Bs are going to be located outside of the heart of the city and will require wasting precious time on public transport. There are some smaller hotels that have the personality and charm missing from chain hotels and some even offer a nice breakfast included with the rate.
