APRIL

  • 2026 Hungarian parliamentary election is expected to be held on 15 April. The country is divided with the opposition parties having a little perceived advantage over the current ruling parties. If things go like the last election the city of Budapest will vote in majority against the current ruling parties. Budapest will be where the largest political crowds will gather. If you are traveling to Budapest in April, be prepared for some disruption to your daily plans. BUT, if the most recent protests against and rallies for the government which were in the range of 200,000 citizens each, are of any indication the protests will begin at the time on their permit, and they will end at the time on their permit. There will be no large-scale public disorder or vandalism and few if any arrests. When the rallies are finished, they generally pick up their own trash. Do not ask me or expect me to comment on local politics. I am here as a guest of the country, the people and the government. Under these circumstances I dont think it polite to comment.
