Can't seem to book tickets for a guided tour of the Opera House. Is it too far in advance for the end of August?
Also, appears to my limited interpretation that there are no performances on at this time either.
Thanks,
Lynn

The website says tour tickets are only available a week ahead.

And yes, I see the summer break occurring between Aug. 19 and Sept. 12. Sorry!
Ah yes, I see that now...thanks for pointing it out!
No performances, but tours pretty sure, yes. What dates in August?
I was so intent with ensuring we didn't miss out that I didn't see the "book a week in advance" until it was kindly pointed out.
Our timing is 24th - 28th August. :)
Lynn, I am pretty sure I waved at you in Melbourne in February. LOL.
What event brought you down here?
Travel! 5 weeks in NZ, then 8 nights in the Melbourne general area (only 4 actually in Melbourne) and 6 in Hobart.
Wonderful...pretty warm month to be in OZ. You are probably used to the heat tho, coming from Texas.
What kept you occupied here?
Tassie is a beautiful place, esp. at that time of the year, bit of a hidden secret!
Lynn H, i am traveling today, but when i get home tomorrow i will look and see if there are some options for music and performance in August, but its usually the month when most are closed.
Ha, Lynn - I found plenty for such a short visit. Scenery and animals!

My last trip to Budapest (last month), I also made it to a tour of the Lizt Academy. https://concert.lisztacademy.hu/guided-tours. I suspect no concerts in August, but you can keep an eye on it. The tour ended with a piano piece in the small recital hall. The building part you see isn’t large, but as acraven has been saying, the art nouveau is gorgeous.
Somewhere on the Hungary forum, Mr. É has posted a good list of venues to check for performances. But definitely the opera house tour!

So appreciate your wealth of information...seems I've lucked in on a "cultural dearth" at the time we are visiting. No matter, I'm sure our culinary experiences will more than make up for that ! :)
I will watch for somehting during your stay here but ..... you hit two snags. One is August (other than 20 August and the week prior) is the driest month of the year for this sort of thing and the other is you are arrving on a Sunday and leaving Thursday so you miss the weekend activities. You really ought to rearrange you entire trip and life and be here on the 20th and stay until 15 September.
But, you substitute your evening plans with a night cruise on the Danube ... stunnning. Maybe a roof top dinner or drinks evening or Gypsy Music with dinner.
Someone else was asking about the Monday organ concerts at St Stephen’s Basilica. They appear to be available in August.
Thanks Texas Mom, I did read about the organ recital, not sure that's my "cup of tea". I do love the "Fever" events which we also have down here.
From what I've digested Dunacorso has musicians so that will fullfill that aspect, thanks Mr E. Please elaborate on "roof top dinning", as that whets the appetite.
We really must try and share a coffee together if timing matches!
