Budapest - Kimpton

Has anyone stayed here? Gets great reviews. But the location does not seem convenient. Although reviews say it’s a great location. Would it be a mistake to stay here for two nights in November? (Pre-cruise)

You are either the second person asking about this, or the same person with a new name.

Its not very convenient for a first time visit or for a visit with limited time. The pre-cruise stay needs to be 2 or 3 days.

Most of what there is to see and do in Budapest is on the Pest side of the river. The hotel is on the Buda side. Yes, with a few trams and maybe an underground metro you can get to the center of things, but there are better choices. But it does look like a lovely hotel. Nothing wrong with that. Maybe your second or third visit when you spend about a week here, it might be a great change.

Here are some ideas on hotels. Hotels:

Thank You Mr. E.
I am a first time poster. I did try to do a search for Kimpton but nothing came up.
I appreciate your insight and that is what I was thinking.
It does look lovely though! And I am now looking at Three Corners Downtown.
Does that location seem better?

If its after about 15 November The Three Corners will be a few feet from one of the largest Christmas Markets. Thats good and bad i guess. Other than that its a nice area and it can be made to work okay. I think you would get more out of a Andrassy ut location. Especially on a short stay when getting around efficiently is helpful. But its subjective.

No. This will be an independent stay prior to the cruise. Unfortunately work constraints only allow for two nights pre-cruise. And yes, we will be there the 19th of November so that is something to think about. I will have a look at the link regarding hotels. Thank you again.

dto717, its okay, you can see and do a lot in a few days. Stay in a convenient place, get a travel card for the trams, get a bit familiar with the layout of the city and the locations of things. Over planning isnt really required because the stuff between the stops is as interesting as the stops themselves so it sort of a never ending looking up sort of experience.
