My preference is District VI along or within a few blocks of Andrassy ut and the M1 metro line (but not on Kiraly utca). There are other good places too, but this is the area that is easiest to generalize about. Other than Kiraly utca I am not to keen on the lower half of District V and certainly not in Buda if its a first trip. As you find places that seem to fit your needs, if you post them here or send them in a PM, there is a chance I can tell you about the street and the area.
When you have one picked out, if it doesnt have a washer let me know as there are plenty of laundrymats around town. And the laundrymat will be a faster solution than the tiny washer/driers in most flats.

Kiraly utca is one of the big party streets. The other is Dob utca. Under 30 European trust fund kids screaming and drinking until 4am. Which, if you are under 30, might be perfect.
