5 days in Budapest April 2026

Hi everyone!
I will be travelling to Budapest with my husband and adult son next April. I have been to Budapest in 2019, but my husband and son have not been there. We arrive in Budapest not long before midnight so we will have a slow first day. After that we have 4 more full days. My husband is a musician so we would like to hear some traditional music but also some contemporary music if possible..maybe a local bar that has live music? Do you think it’s too much to do a trip to Szentendre in that time? I didn’t get there last trip. My husband and son are also big wine fans…any suggestions for trying local Hungarian wines? We will be there April 11th to 17th. I had a fantastic time with one of my other sons last trip thanks to this forum so I’m really looking forward to going there again with my husband and son.
Thank you in advance for any suggestions

He might like the Opus Jazz Club, or the Budpaest Jazz Club. He might like the Klezmer Music at Spinoza on Friday night. Or any of the other venues. There is a list on this thread: https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/hungary/concerts-in-budapest

Not at all. Around lunch time take the commuter train up and the boat back.

I will send you a link to some information that contains a list of good wine bars and a very good wine guide if you want to run out to one of the local wineries (many are close to town). That and Szentendre might be a bit much for you a short trip to Budapest. Personally I would go for the vineyards.

Always here to help. And the forum has several others that are better than me on Budapest. See, I live here, so sometimes I lose the tourist perspective; but I am great on directions.

Thanks for that TexasTravelMom. I’ll definitely look into it
