Hello fellow travelers, I am be heading to Hydra after a few days in Athens I am looking for recommendations of where to stay in Hydra. Thanks in advance for any tips.
This link is from another person asking on this Forum last year about Hydra lodging recommendations: https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/greece/place-to-stay-on-hydra
Thank you!
My friend and I only did a day trip to Hydra from Athens, so no lodging recommendations. However, enjoy your time there! We found the island magical and quiet. We both said we would go and stay there a couple of nights the next time we are in Greece.
We just returned from Hydra last week as part of our Athens and the Heart of Greece tour. The group stayed in two places-Ippokampos and Hotel Mystral. I'd say the consensus was that Mystral was preferred because their breakfast was better. Mystral is an extra block or two away from the Harbor, though, so be aware of that. In Hydra, obviously if you have nice warm weather the beaches are great. We took a shuttle to Bellevalia (formerly the Four Seasons) one day and had a lovely lunch there as well as used the beach. The shuttle was only 10 euros per person. The Sunset restaurant is a beautiful spot to watch the sunset in the evening-make a reservation to get a good table with the view. Enjoy!
Thank you! Much appreciated.
We had a very nice stay at Kirki Hydra back in 2021. Very close to the port, nice room, very clean, and helpful staff.
Have a look at this site https://www.hydradirect.com/accommodation
I'm a solo female traveler and I'll be in Hydra on the 18th for the first time and staying at Hotel Sophia. The location is a 10min walk from the port and overlooks the harbor. My research indicates there's no shortage of tavernas and cafes which I'm looking forward to. Capturing the view from the clock tower is on my list. I hope you enjoy your trip!
