My partner and I are planning a trip to Greece in April and are wondering if anyone has a good recommendation for a cozy mom & pop B&B to stay at on the Greek Island of Hydra? We are hoping to keep it under $100/night as we are students on a budget.
Any advice about the island in general is welcome!
We stayed here (link below) during our RS Greece tour and it was well located a bit off the main drag area (which isn't much!) and simple, clean, nice family owned place with a nice breakfast.
Quick walk to port area. They even mailed me an item I had left behind in the room- a ring with sentimental value to me. They also did a load of laundry at a very inexpensive price (sorry I can't remember exactly but it was CHEAP). Nice people and very helpful. I'm not sure about room pricing, they must be closed for season -at this time- when I tried to check prices through the booking link just now.
Hydra was one of our favorite stops on our tour. The vibe is low-key and relaxed. If you are a cat lover- you will love Hydra! Lots of pretty cats lazing about everywhere. We took a ferry to an amazing small beach with beach chairs and umbrellas for rental and a little snack shack. The ferry cost 24 E each, I believe and it was shared with other people. The beach was called Bisti Beach. If you go to the port and ask for a ferry that reaches this out-of-the-way-beach. Its lovely! Like paradise- a little beach surrounded by warm, shallow crystal blue water and sand and pine trees off the beach. You are in your own world with just a smattering of other people lazing on their beach chairs. So magical. and make sure to ask for return times when they will come back and pick you up and transport you back to the port area.
Tips if you go to Bisti beach- bring cash for the snack shack. Or bring your own snacks and water. Wear water shoes if you have them. Try to get the first ferry out so you have your choice of beach chairs (overlooking the water and not under the pine trees).
Enjoy!
