In today's world of superlatives, all such vocabulary seems cliche. However, Faye Georgiou and her network of professionals deserve the superlatives. She is generosity itself. She is a tour guide who goes above and beyond her call of duty. Without notice the new Acropolis Museum closed early, and our appointment had to be canceled. She made a way for us to meet her the next day at the museum and helped us change our travel plans, as we were unwilling to leave Athens without seeing one of the main sites we came to see! Also, pre-arrival to Greece, her quick and efficient communication through email was key in my planning the trip. When she was unavailable for certain dates or locations, she had viable suggestions. During the tours she shares her fount of knowledge and somehow has the special gift of keeping teenagers engaged as well as the adults. Our family of four unanimously agreed that Faye made our trip to Athens most pleasant, informative, understable, and so wonderfully memorable. She is the Donna incarnate. Thank you Faye, and thank you, Rick for putting her in your book!
Another integral part of our fantastic Athens experience was Marios Stavros. He also is generosity. He is a private driver and travel agent (unbeknowsdt to me prior to going or I would have hired him) that Faye recommended who drove us to various cities on our itinerary. Having traveled often in Europe before and taken buses everywhere, I was hesitant at first to hire a driver, but with our family of four and all our bags (carry-ons only and personal item), I thought it worth the cost. He must be kin to Hermes if he can be punctual in a city like Athens and can drive down those narrow lanes. And he does sincerely cares about his clients. When our plans changed with the museum debauchle, he was so willing to help us stay another day and drive us out later. Marios and his suggestions were priceless! EVERY suggestion on where to eat was dadgum delicious!
If we have the opportunity to return to Greece, Athens will certainly be a destination again, and we will certainly find both Faye and Marios a place in our itinerary.
