I know it's not a hub, but if anyone is interested in staying in Bacharach, Germany in the Rhine Valley... the Hotel Malerwinkel is a very special place. My wife and I had a great stay. The hotel is built into the medieval town walls, between two towers and the gate into the western side of the town. It was cash only, but super cheap (100 euro a night). ATM was across the street in a bank that is accessible 24 hours and only had a 5 euro transaction fee.
I could not recommend the place more highly. The family that runs it are very kind people. I hope in some small way that this post returns the kindness they extended to my wife and me.
