I am completing the tour in St Goar on sept 18th and flying out of Frankfurt on the 19th. I did not realize there was a trade fair in Frankfurt during this time. My flight leaves 655 am on the 19th but I wanted to spend the 18th exploring Frankfurt. I am a single women traveling alone. I see my options as
1-Changing my flight to the 18th a paying the penalty
2- Pay for a 250 euro room to sleep in for a few hours
3-Stay at the airport
4-Train to Berlin and catch my flight there since there is a layover there. I could hopefully get a room.
5-Risk a private home for the night. I checked out the web site that has been recommended to Tom in a previous post by a R/S post.
Is anyone else on this tour having the same issue?

4 -If you don't board in Frankfurt the rest of the ticket will be cancelled. You can inquire about changing your ticket to depart in Berlin, but the change fee and train ride to Berlin will likely cost more than an expensive hotel room.
It has been suggested to me for my flight from Frankfurt that I consider staying in Mainz. The Frankfurt airport is located between the two cities.

Don't ever try #4. If you don't board on the airport you are supposed to, your whole ticket will get cancelled.

Yes, other people are experiencing the Frankfurt trade fair issue. See suggestions at https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/germany/help-looking-for-a-place-to-stay-in-franfurt. Also try the youth hostel. Don't overlook the advice in large type, above.
