Düsseldorf B&B or Hotel

Spending two nights in Düsseldorf in mid-September 2021 (yes, days away!). Any recommendations for me and my husband? We prefer near or in the Old Town area. Thank you.

I've flown into Düsseldorf, but I have never stayed there overnight. I am, however, a big fan of the Motel One chain, too. I stayed in one last night in Frankfurt. Small, simple rooms with a dash of design flare. The ground-floor common area is always super stylish.

2017 is a lifetime ago, but I stayed a few nights at Derag Livinghotel De Medici. It's a gut-renovated mansion, kind of low-end luxury. I liked it a lot, although it's not the cheapest place in town. Note that there is another Derag in Duesseldorf that has lower reviews.

The De Medici is right across the street from a major art museum, and I walked to the old town several times. It's also an even easy walk to Brauerei Im Füchschen, a superb dinner:

It's true that not all of Dusseldorf is "walkable", but you don't have to be right in the old town. If you don't have air conditioning in the summer, I'd prefer a quieter location! I only took the subway twice, to go to the Botanical Garden, and to go to the Kunstakademie and nearby (older art) museum.
