Yerevan

Has anyone been? We are considering a trip in August for a week of food and culture.

We spent two weeks in Armenia and Georgia during the fall of 2019. It was a wonderful trip.

Yerevan is a very European city, with cafes, wonderful restaurants, a not-to-miss historical and art museum, markets, etc. I highly recommend it. Be sure to get out to the countryside to see the churches and monasteries, either with a group or independently, while you are there. Armenia is multi-cultural due to so many Armenians living around the world who contribute to and support the culture in the homeland.

Despite the above attempt at humor, now deleted, my telephone did pick up neighboring phone systems when we were in the disputed territories and near the Turkish border.

I hope to go again one day.

Periscope, were you mocking the idea of going to Armenia? Or Azerbaijan?

I have a five-week trip planned this fall: 2 weeks in Türkiye and 3 weeks in the Caucasus, starting in Baku, heading west through Georgia, and ending in Yerevan. And I didn't spin the globe.

Incidentally, you can't travel directly between Azerbaijan and Armenia. They are engaged in a conflict over the Nagorno-Karabakh region, and the border between the two countries is closed. You have to go through Georgia.

I am Armenian. We wish to travel to see the land of our people and scatter mom's ashes. We love the food and culture and so, why not? Thanks for the helpful post, it means a lot. It looks like Aug. may be too darn hot, though.
