Wrist wallets

Hello fellow travelers, wondering about experience with wrist wallets for the day's cash and a credit card. Seems pretty secure around the wrist like a sweatband and with the zipper on the inside of the wrist. Won't slip off, any attempt to unzip would be very noticeable and with a rfid blocker, couldn't be scanned from nearby. I use one of Rick's neck pouches for passport and main cash. Any thoughts would be most appreciated.....Nancy

I have used a wristlet on occasion, depends on my wardrobe. If a belt bag is not workable and I don’t want anything on my back, I will use one.

To clarify, do you mean the wallet is like a tennis wrist sweat band (like this https://a.co/d/00px1LBp) or a wallet that has a wrist strap that goes around your wrist but the wallet is loose (like this: https://a.co/d/05Bc6y0S) With the former, it seems like it could be difficult to get in and out of one handed (at least it would be for me) and also uncomfortable in warmer weather. With the latter, I've used a wrist lanyard to secure my phone (that I use for pictures, directions, etc.) but not a wallet which is only taken out occasionally throughout the day.

My preference is to have any kind of wallet inside a cross body purse that has at least one extra zipper in between it and a thief. In my opinion, no matter how close to you the item with a zipper is located, a skilled thief can open a zipper anywhere. So I keep 95% of important money, spare cards, passport in a neck wallet under my clothes and daily cash and one card in my day bag.

It very much depends on where you're going and what time of year. In the UK, I don't use cash at all. I find tapping with my phone awkward, so I do use a credit card, which I keep in the zippered chest pocket of my jacket or in my cross-body bag if I'm carrying that. I'm not as security oriented as most folks on here.
In warm weather, the sweatband style wrist wallet seems like it would be both hot and strange looking.

Thanks for all the comments and opinions. I had never thought of a wrist wallet but it was recommended on "Heritance Italy" on Facebook so I was considering it. I think I will stick with my neck pouch and a wallet in my crossbody purse. Thanks so much!

I'll just add that I tried to use one of these a couple of years ago. I tried it out when out walking and it just did not work. It may work on a guy who has bigger wrists. I'm a plus sized woman but my wrists are not that big and the CCs/Drivers license just didn't "sit" right on my wrist.

I'm curious - do you get two, one for each wrist, or do you go around with one lonely wrist band - that would look wierd.

I cannot imagine wearing one of these. I can't stand wearing a watch, let alone a wrist band with bank cards and money in it. Summer heat in Rome must be fun wearing this.
Cross body bag and if you really want to be a tad safer, then a money belt under your shirt.

I have one to use on the rare occasion that I have no place else to separate my items during transport and feel I have to have them on my body. If I need to keep an ID and credit card separate from my similar crossbody documents and have no other bag or interior pocket, it works well for transport. It's under a long sleeve shirt so not visible. It would not be something I'd want to regularly go into for cash or a card because it takes effort. I don't wear any type of money belt. I just use my crossbody purse like at home, but I like emergency backup separated during transport. When not in transport, I leave backups in my suitcase. Or if I felt I was in a dangerous neighborhood at night for some reason, I might put my only info in there. But if you are wearing a neck pouch and a crossbody, I certainly don't think you need a third location. But it is a process figuring out one's own system. I didn't have a system until I came on the RS forum worried about it. So, I had no worries for 25 travel years until the RS conversation seemed to be telling me I was doing it wrong, so tried a leg wallet which was fine, but then wasn't necessary IMO, and now I'm back to just my purse with worries mainly at TSA regarding where to secure items while they are separated from me. Good luck and have fun figuring out your system!

I have found the best solution for keeping things safe/separate or in transport is the RS neck wallet sewn into the inside of my blazers, especially for TSA before the security machines.

It occurs to me that it might be as easy to steal as a wristwatch, which is a pretty basic pickpocketing skill.

I agree with the comments. Might be hot, might be loose, might look weird. I also thought about needing a RFID blocker for security...that plus cc plus cash would get kind of thick. Accessing cash risks spilling everything out. I will stick to my neck pouch and crossbody purse! Thanks all!

Don't be concerned with RFID, it is not the issue people who sell RFID blocking things make it out to be.

Go with something that is comfortable for you. Taking only a credit card and a little cash will go a long way to avoiding problems, even just in your pocket would likely be fine. I use a very thin leather billfold type thing the size of a credit card, usually in a zippered pocket, if I have a bit more, I move to a small crossbody bag, but try to avoid even that, or stash my extra in my wife's crossbody bag.

mostly the people making the fuss about RFID are the people selling the "protection". It is a solution looking for a problem.
