Wow - new formatting options!

Text formatting, bulleted and numbered lists, quotes and even links? Oh, my. Welcome to the 1990s! ;) (Not complaining, just surprised to see a different interface) If only one could embed an image - can I haz that next please?

At my age thought I was seeing things. Glad to know I wasn't. Kudos webmaster for the new look.

This happened some time today. This morning it was old school, and now it has all changed.

We used to be able embed images, but they took that away long ago because of abuse of the system.

David, The new format certainly looks a LOT different and MUCH better, but it seems to be a bit "quirky" with Edits. I've tried to Edit a few posts in the new format, and the system won't accept them. Maybe there are still a few "bugs" to be worked out? I agree, it would sure be nice to include photos. In some cases it's so much easier to explain something with a photo. Of course, file size of photos would have to be limited, in order to minimize impact on Server capacity. Some HelpLine members may not be familiar with re-sizing photos. Cheers!

Ken, I had the same problem trying to edit something. I hope that bug gets worked out.

Ken. I noticed the same thing; no ability to edit now.

With BBC I can't imbed photos, but I can put them in the graphic file folder for my website and link to them (even though they don't show anywhere on my website). Right now I can't see the new formatting options. Ken says I have to clear cookies or something, but I don't think I will. I've always been able to add links, italics, bold, color, etc using the code, so the new format brings nothing new to me. Since editing isn't working right with the new format, I don't think I want to change anything.

Webmaster- Have you ever looked at the CaringBridge site? If allows formatting almost identical to WORD, etc. for posts. Colors, Bold, Underlining, font selection and size etc. and does not show the coding when you do it- you see it as it will appear. You might want to check them out, or talk to their webmaster. Don't know if you can edit posts, though.

I'm somewhere in the middle - there's nothing new on the ability to format (in fact it looks like some of the 'format toys' aren't on the 'posting' page?), but it will be easier to do so now. The biggies - bold, italics, underline, strike through, asterisks - are all here, plus... Bullets! (weren't bullets always on the Format page???) And I can see what fantastic creation I've typed in a box below...or is that just my new iPad?!?!? (shaking head, confused) Learning curve...;-)

BUT...I just noticed that you can have more than two lines Of space between lines of text; that's definitely a change! Yea!

EDIT: Oh, ummmmmm, apparently, that only works with bullets... (sorry, David, for the multiple posts. I can confirm that Edits don't work for me... :-(

I am SOOOOO happy. I never could get the hang of formatting using code! At least I have SOME options now. YEAH! I am sure the editing will come soon.

Well, to note a few things, this is admittedly a rather sloppy implementation (sorry). The inability to edit is a significant bug. Firefox doesn't show the implementation of the new editor, but it also doesn't have the "edit" bug. So, if you really need to edit a post and you are so inclined, you can jump into Firefox to do so. Formatting with lists (a tag within a tag) doesn't seem to work well either. In short, I'm glad that many of you like the changes, but we may still need to end up with a different solution in the long run given the bugs.

The editing bug seems to be fixed. If anyone still has this issue, please PM me.

I haven't tried editing any posts yet, but likely will sometime today. It's good to hear that the problem is resolved (thanks, Andrew!). One other point to mention. I signed-in to the HelpLine using my iPhone last night, and the new formatting seems to also work well using a mobile device. Cheers!
