Would you stay in Colmar, Equisheim in France or Staufen in Gremany

I have been doing some reading and have these towns all quite interesting. Which is more quaint and picturesque? Which of the following would you stay in?

Having been to both Colmar and Staufen, I would say that Staufen wins the quaint and picturesque award. Had a delightful stay there. Drove to some areas nearby to do things, but loved coming back to Staufen. Another possibility would be Cochem in Germany. Right on the river.

Just checked and we stayed in Hotel Hirschen in Staufen in 2008. Were treated royally and loved the restaurant. We stayed in Hotel Lohspeicher in Cochem. Loved them both.

gordon, My suggestion would also be Colmar. It's large enough that it has a variety of nice restaurants and good Hotels, but small enough to be easily walkable. I was there last year, and really enjoyed my stay! Happy travels!

Stay in Colmar. It is a lovely town and his nice restaurants and hotels. But definitely plan a visit to Eguisheim and walk through its streets. This quaint town consists of three concentric circles of houses and streets with an outer protective wall. The fortified architecture is fascinating. There are not many shops or cultural items for sale. But there were several storks nests high on the roofs.

Our family, 2 adults, a ten yr old girl and 14 yr old boy stayed in Colmar and loved it. We took a little boat trip down the teeny weeny canal that wound through the old town and stayed in an old hotel recommended by RS. It is a great little town.
