I was looking at the adapters that are for sale on this website. It says that I need to make sure that my appliances have built in 110/220 volt converters. I don't understand what this means. I have my curling iron and on it it says 120/240 VAC. I have no idea if that is even related to what I'm trying to figure out. Basically what I am wanting to know is if I buy the adapters on Rick Steve's site (the continental and britain one), will I be able to use my curling iron in Europe? ANY help would be greatly appreciated!
Yes, you will be able to use it. All you will need is a plug adapter (to change the shape of our plugs to fit their outlets). You may find, though, that it works differently in Europe than it does here. Be careful to monitor how hot it gets and don't leave it on too long at a time.
One thing to check- make sure the adapter plug has a circular face. There are some adapters and voltage converters on the market (my mom bought one for her curling iron) that even though the prongs are correctly formed, the overall shape does not fit into the round sockets of most European outlets. It was literally sticking a square peg into a round hole.
