The trains between Civit and Rome are almost all regional - no wifi. In some of the first class, high speed trains wifi is available but in general no.

Butch, As Frank mentioned, there will be NO Wi-Fi on Regionale trains (Civitaveccia to Rome). You'll likely be travelling via high speed "Freccia" trains from Rome to Florence and while those MAY have Wi-Fi in first class, I believe it's only available to those with local cell service. The new Italo high speed trains may have Wi-Fi, but they've just started operating so the service is somewhat limited at the moment.

I recently used the new Italo train service (google ItaloTreno to find it) and it was very comfortable and the wifi worked fine. HOWEVER: keep in mind that on the routes that you speak of (between Rome/Florence, etc.) the train will go through many tunnels, and when this happens the wifi is lost temporarily. On my trip up to Florence (from Rome) there were not as many tunnels as on the way back; I guess there are different variations on the route available to them. But basically, on the way back I couldn't really use the wifi in any productive way because of the number of tunnels. I do highly recommend ItaloTreno, however, and note that while their service is a bit limited in terms of routes/times at present, they are constantly adding more and by the time that you plan to be here they might have a number of additional options available.

The easy answer is that they don't have Wi-Fi. For your Livorno Centrale to Florence run, the trains are all Regionale. Definitely no Wi-Fi
