Why won't this hotel get back to me?

I got an email saying that if I sent my credit card details to them by Sept 18 at noon, the room would be mine. So I did that yesterday, well before the deadline. (I'm assuming they meant Paris time). I sent an email saying I had sent the details. 24 hours later, no response. I just sent them another email explicitly asking for confirmation. The reason I ask this is because I'm leaving for Paris on Oct 9 and need a hotel for 8 nights, so I don't have time to sit around and wait for their response while other hotels have sent me offers that could disappear quickly as they get booked. Any suggestions?

If it were me, I would phone them....I have French friends living in France that I email often and many times they don't get some of my emails...it's very frustrating and we don't know why but it happens a lot.

The smaller hotels without the big names on them often don't have 24 hour staffing for responding to emails in English, and due to the time difference it may been night over there when your e-mail arrived. If they don't respond today, by the end of the business day, Paris time that is, then you either want to phone (you may have to be prepared to speak in French) or move on to another hotel.

Wow, they just got back to me confirming my reservation! I sent that email about 40 minutes ago. Problem solved! I feel silly now for creating this post...I guess sometimes you just have to ask explicitly for what you want.

Yep. Often it has to do with the time difference and the fact that the smaller hotels don't have 24 hr staffing of the employee position that is responsible for responding to emails in English. Glad it worked for you.
