Whisperer - using personal earbuds and Bluetooth transmitters

These questions are about the "whisperers" or devices used to hear your guide during RS tours. They are great; indispensable!

Have they gone Bluetooth, allowing non-wired connection to personal ear buds?
If not, can any ear buds / headphones be plugged into the receiver provided by RS?

Is it possible to plug a transmitter into the receiver provided by RS? If so, it could use Bluetooth to communicate with your earbuds, while the receiver could be in your backpack? Any issues, for example, the insufficient volume?

We've been on 3 tours including 2024 and we've always had old school 3.5mm jacks.
Now that hubby has hearing aids, I'm trying to figure out how that will work for our next tour.

I use an Airfly bluetooth dongle and wireless earbuds for the "whispers" and it works very well. I tuck the transmitter in my bag so I don't need to have it around my neck. Works fine. I use Anker earbuds that have a neckband, so I can take the earbuds out when the guide is done, and don't have to stop and root around for them for the next round (and they don't get lost!). Also great for watching movies on the plane, no dangling headsets, etc.

I'll pack my dongle transmitter and earbuds, as well as a pair of wired earbuds for backup.
Thank you
