Which way to go.

Have a week, 7 days in May 2018 to spend in either Paris and parts or Austria and parts. Haveing a hard time deciding. Looking for recommendations as to which place to go. Will be going back to Germany again in October 2018 so we can go to the other location at that time. ( Paris / Austria ). Also open to other suggestions. Thanks.

Hi,

It comes down to either Paris or Austria? If you have never been in Paris, I would spend the entire 7 days there plus a day trip or two, ie, to Fontainebleau, Versailles, Giverny, St Germain en Laye, even Normandy (Caen or Bayeux), Amiens, Reims, etc, a lot of choices if you're into WW1 history.

If you don't want to revisit Paris, then I suggest Austria, mainly to Vienna and Linz, or stay in Vienna with a couple of day trips, only if you want. I could stay put in Vienna (and have) easily for the 7 days, without going off on a day trip. Graz, Brno, Bad Ischl, Linz, etc.

"...going back to Germany again in October 2018...." Bravo, where in Germany?

Since Austria is closer to Germany, perhaps that makes more sense logistically?

We have family in Stuttgart. We spent 6 weeks visiting, Nov. 25 to Jan. 5th. going to Christmas Markets. Also spent a week in Rome. We’re going back in May for 4 weeks. Well be visiting Brussels and Amsterdam with family. Wife and I will be headed out on our own for a week and deciding which way to go. Appreciate your input

We had the same dilemma for Mid May - 8 nights where to go - we picked Provence but we had been to Paris twice. We love Paris so it would be a great choice. Haven't been to Austria so can't compare

Paris might be a little nicer weather in May than Austria. If you haven't been to either, I'd pick Paris and environs. Counting an arrival jet lag day, 5 days is a pretty good visit for Paris. That plus a couple day trips would probably use up your time without feeling rushed or always moving.
