They would all be wonderful,( just the idea of a home exchange is wonderful) , but for me, I would choose Portugual if near the water( but not inland) or the Netherlands, since it would easy to take a few side trips to Paris, the Alps , maybe London.
Finland/Denmark does not interest me,, too expensive and I have a feeling the climate and flora is a bit too similar to where I live. Poland might be interesting, I bet it would be more inexpensive to buy certain things ( groceries and meals out) ,, but I do not know enough about what to see and do there,, I guess you could research that)
I know too little about Czech Republic to offer an opinion on it,, I hear Prague is nice, but not much more.
What a great thing to have to contemplate and research,, good luck and enjoy whereever you choose to go!
I would pick either Poland or the Netherlands. The Netherlands would be great for day trips, and I love Poland as it is so cheap, beautiful and not as touristy as a lot of places in Europe. Plus it would be a great place to explore the Baltic countries.
I think I would pick either the Netherlands or Finland.
The Netherlands due to the wonderful sense of history there, the really old cities, pretty landscape, and the ease of going from city to city. Finland due to the fact that it would be quite different from anything else I have seen. Beautiful land and the saunas sound like fun!
What time of year are you going?
I'll be going in the Summer of 2010 from June-August.
Hi, Peter. I would say say Amsterdam or the Czech Republic are easiest to get to see lots of other 'major' places in Europe, if that's something you want to do.
But there are lots of unique things to do from all those places. Denmark/Finland can be pretty amazing during summer. (Looooong day, beautiful countries).
